Look what we've been up to!

Our class proved to be full of Super Sorters!!  Check out their sorting plates!

We also had a great opportunity to learn about how our bodies work through Body Trek!  This was an interactive walk through the human body!  Here Gunner and Abi show us how a stethoscope is used and what a human heart looks like!

Homecoming Week!

Homecoming week was so much fun!  One of the class' favorite dress up days was "Dress like Mr. Henderson" day!  They had a great time and really looked the part!

We also had a wonderful time at the high school's homecoming parade!  They brought the parade right by our school!!!  We loved the Hueytown Clown!

More Balls, Ramps, and Roadways...

Here are the 4 teams we had for Roadway building!  These were completely student constructed!  They learned to think critically and solve problems, as well as work in a cooperative group!  Each roadway was tested with various balls, and they all worked so well!  I know you're impressed!!

Balls & Ramps!

Check out what we did during our balls and ramps science unit!  We compared size, composition, weight, and bounciness with many different balls.  We also studied properties of motion using experiments with various balls and ramps.  Our roadways were constructed over a few days...we worked hard!  We had to figure out how to make our balls travel the distance of the roadway.  How do we look?

More Clouds!!

We acted out a play to explain how rainbows form.  The sun shines through the water droplets in the air, causing many colors to be showcased!  Check out our awesome actors and actresses!

Don't forget to talk with your child about what they're learning about clouds!  You may be impressed by what you hear!!  We've done experiments like "cloud in a bag" to understand that clouds are made of tiny water droplets.  They are also able to classify clouds as cumulus, stratus, cirrus, or contrail.

Clouds, Clouds, Clouds!

Our science focus right now is CLOUDS!  I hope your children have come home talking about cumulus, stratus, and cirrus clouds!  Here are some pictures of us making clouds with shaving cream!  The big, puffy clouds are cumulus clouds.  Stratus clouds are stretched out like a blanket.  Cirrus clouds are wispy, like a horse's tail!  See if you can figure out which ones are being made in each picture!!

Items to collect and send in...

Here are 2 things you can easily collect and send in to help our classroom!
*Send in empty toilet paper/paper towel rolls for some "Balls and Ramps" science experiments we have coming up!
*Send in Sunny D labels (with the Proof of Purchase) and help us get 20 free books for our classroom library!

Thanks so much for your help!!

Our first day of school!

We had a wonderful first day!  We learned our class rules and procedures, had snack, play-doh time, lunch, PE, story time, and even a nap!  Every child fell asleep!!  The first few days of kindergarten can really be tiring!!  Check out how great we looked on the first day!
