Balls, Ramps, and Roadways!!

We ended our unit on Balls, Ramps, ad Roadways with a bang!  Today we had our showcase where we invited our families to see the roadways we constructed.  They even got to try them out!  Who knew paper towels and masking tape could be so much fun?  We also showed this video to our parents today so they could see all the hard work we've done!

What a week!

We had a wonderful time learning to sort during math this week!  Check out what we did during math centers!

Sorting tiles by color on a chart

Sorting bears by color on paper plates

Sorting shapes by size on paper plates

Sorting pattern blocks by kind on a chart

We are continuing our Balls, Ramps, and Roadways unit during science time.  This week we learned about what balls are made of.  We learned that balls that bounce really well are made of rubber.  Then we made balls out of clay.  Those did NOT bounce at all!!

This Friday is our showcase where we invite our families to view the roadways we have constructed!!  Our  Balls, Ramps, and Roadways unit has been so fun!!

Special Guests

Check out the special guests we had in class today!

Thank you to Jacey's grandpa and granddaddy for bringing our special guests to Kindergarten today!

Balls and Ramps!!!

We've been up to a lot during science time!  Our new unit is Balls and Ramps!  Through this unit, we will explore properties of motion, like force and acceleration.  Check out some of our exciting learning activities below:

Straws and Balls--  We worked with our partner to blow the balls across the table using straws.  We learned that balls need force to move!  Our class also experimented with using balls of different weight.  We figured out that it's harder to move the heavier ball!!

Here we are testing and comparing the bounciness of different balls with our partner.

These pictures show us counting the number of bounces different balls make!

Soon we will begin learning about and using ramps!!  More pictures to come!!
